Photograph and caption; Caption reads, "Mourning the Death of Mrs. Mary Page, 59, who died of pneumonia after leaving her sick bed to rescue two foster children during a fire which destroyed their Chesterfield County home in a downpour of rain are her daughter, Mrs. Daisy Godfrey shown with her husband and Mr. Howard of the Neblett Funeral Home. The widower, Mack Page, is shown in the doorway" (from The Richmond Afro-American, March 1, 1960).
